We have used Pawsitive Pets for both training and dog sitting, and both experiences have been great! One of our dogs was very reactive to strangers and loud noises while on walks and at home. Patrick provided invaluable information on how to reduce potential sources of stress in the home and how to reinforce good behavior. Each lesson came with detailed notes and homework to ensure success. We also participated in demo sessions with other dogs in order to practice in different environments. Our other dog had a lot of separation anxiety, so we were able to work on improving this as well.
We used Pawsitive Pets for both pet sitting and training. We have an 8 month mini golden doodle with so much energy. Patrick has been wonderful with training and tips on how to handle all the energy to make Cooper into a great family dog. Still work to do but we definitely have teh tools to do thanks to Patrick. Additionally, Cooper attends weekly play group sessions to learn manners with other dogs. These sessions are closely monitored and a great outlet for him. Finally, we will be using the pet sitting weekly and knowing they will be coming out to take care of him while we work reduces so much worry. I highly recommend Pawsitive Pets for your pet needs.
Patrick was amazing with helping us to train our two pups! Before training just taking them outside was nerve wrecking, not knowing what they were going to run after and bark at. Now they can sit next to us and ignore cars pulling into the driveway and they get better everyday at not barking when people knock on the door. They are even on the road to being able to spend time around other dogs which is a dream come true! Patrick truly cares about how ours dogs are doing and he has been so extremely helpful, we highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great trainer at a fair price!
I had a great experience with Pawsitive Pets! My 1 year old terrier mix Ivy is a great dog but had some problems like door darting, running away, excessive energy, jumping on people, pulling excessively on leash, storm phobia, nail trim phobia, and problems playing with other dogs. I didn't want to do a 6-week training program through a place like Petsmart because it wouldn't focus on Ivy's specific problems and wasn't the best learning environment for her (she is easily distracted). I picked Pawsitive Pets over other places cause I like that the trainer, Patrick, would do training sessions at places where the problem was (my apartment, park, etc) instead of a training facility. The training plans were easy to follow and I liked the homework and training charts that came with so I could easily keep track of progress. I also really appreciated Patrick's flexibility as we had to reschedule some lessons. He really knows his stuff and there was no issue asking questions. A couple weeks later and Ivy sits patiently while guests enter instead of darting out the door and she used to scream and snap during nail trims (it used to take 3 people). Now I can touch her feet and nails by myself in my room with her calm. Super happy and glad I went with Pawsitive Pets. I contacted Patrick to help with leash training of our terrier/dachshund mix, Peach. Patrick was well prepared for each lesson, which consisted of a discussion/explanation about a particular behavior, followed by indoor and outdoor practice in modifying that behavior. Patrick concluded each lesson with handouts about what we had discussed, and a homework assignment for Peach and I to practice. Patrick is very knowledgeable and patient, and I would recommend him to any dog owner who is serious about training.
During dog sitting, Hilary provides daily updates and pictures of the dogs, and they always have a ton of fun and are well taken care of! She even told me she had stayed later than she anticipated one evening because our dog fell asleep on her, and she didn't have the heart to wake him! It's always great to know your dogs are in safe hands when you're so far away! I would definitely recommend using Pawsitive Pets!
