Food was mediocre at best.
This place's business has taken a real dive the past couple years. It used to be absolutely packed on weekends and certain week nights, but now even some weekend nights it's a ghost town by midnight. This has caused them to close pretty early the last two times I was there, before 2 AM. I hope Jake's stays open, because I can't figure out why they're losing so many customers. Their food is standard bar fare, about what you'd expect. The pizza is above-average.
Waited a full hour for our food while the restaurant was 20% full. Can't imagine how awful the service is when it's packed!
Their drink specials are some of the best on campus, and their bartenders tend to pour pretty strong. Also respect to their bartenders for only throwing me out twice in the years I've been going there, I've deserved it more often than that. I have more and better memories here than any other campus bar, and I'll be going again this weekend to help support it. Long live Jake's!
I won't go back and I suggest you avoid too. Just look at the number of 1 star reviews. I had two bad experiences here. The food isn't bad and I don't mind eating here (or at least I didn't mind). One example: I had an unsatisfactory experience and asked to speak to the manager I received attitude. Then I received attitude from the manager. I'm a very reasonable person and I'm not quick to anger. As a local, I expect to be treated with dignity and not like I'm some college student.
Strong drinks and good daily specials. Regular sports bar food for the most part however the hot wings are a must try. The service of one of the servers was exceptionally bad. The individual apparently had a girlfriend who brought several of her friends in and the server paid great attention to that table by turning up the music for them, serving them before others, and changing the tv channel for them while my table and others suffered bad service. If you go here i strongly suggest sitting at the Bar if you want decent service.
Every time I've been here I've been treated terribly. Ranging from bad and rude service to getting the wrong food, this place does it all. If you want to be disappointed by lackluster specials and touchy customer service, this is your place.
