On a side note googling dog ailments is about as effective as WebMD - Duke only had conjunctivitis, but the internet convinced me he'd be blind by morning.
When I went in I was worried because I had heard they were pricey. My total bill including the eye drops was cheaper than Duke's last appointment at a local vet when he had an ear infection.
I was pleased with the level of care, the only complaint I have is that they did not treat my dog's SEVERE pain for the whole hour and a half we were there. They waited and just gave us paid meds to take home. Other than that they did a great job.
I took my dog in late at night for an eye issue. The student that did Duke's initial check was very friendly and professional. He and the doctor came in to let me know what was wrong with Duke and to let me know they wanted to check out his eye a little closer. One of the tests would cost an additional $30 and they checked with me before performing it. The next morning I received a follow up call to see how Duke was doing and to see if I had any questions.
I sadly had to have our dog put down after hours on a Sunday. The staff there were very sweet and understanding treating my dog like a friend. The price was more than fair. I would have no problem using them again if I needed to. They made a heartbreaking time as easy as they could and they all deserve the best for it.
I'm not sure what to expect, we haven't been there yet but we've got an appt on the 18th of this month, our lab mix was just diagnosed with cancer and they are willing to help him but they wanted to know about payment immediately? We've been told that the 1st appt will be $1800 to $2000 and we're on an extremely tight fixed income but I'm not going to just let my dog die! I'm hopeful that once we're there things will be a little more compassionate? We shall see?
I love my primary vet, but I won't hesitate to use Purdue again for after hours or weekend emergencies!
All they care about is cash, not one thing about caring for animals. For a teaching facility just to walk in the door is 500. Why? Expect any visit for any reason to be thousands. No cash your pet will die and they don't care.
